Make Love not war
A performance based on the Aristophanian comedies in English language
Aristophanes is famous for his comedies. Eleven of his plays that have survived until nowadays, are the only comedies that we have from the Ancient Greek world and Civilization.
But few people notice that Aristophanes explores tragic themes.
If Euripides wrote “The Trojan Women” wanting to talk about peace, then Aristophanes also wrote “Peace”, “Ekklesiazousai” (or The Assembly Women), “Lysistrata” and “The Acharnians”.
With his satiric words he mocked the catastrophical decisions of the politicians of his time, that preferred war in order to enforce their politics and serve their interests.
Our performance has exactly this target, not only.
Make love not War , will entertain the audience with the most important comic monologues and most well-known scenes of Aristophane, while giving a panorama of the Ancient world, the Politicians and the social situation of Ancient Athens.
The audience have the unique chance to travel to the Ancient world with the actors, innovative costumes and theater as a vehicle.
We attempt an innovative approach to the works of Aristophanes that are the only ancient comedies that have survived until today.
